We have eleven members at present and meet for two hours on alternate Mondays at 2pm in a house in Barkfield Lane. The music we play is very varied - anything from medieval pieces through to ragtime.  It’s great fun and we enjoy a good laugh as well as the music.  The music is written for a varying number of parts but we usually play in three of four parts.  When we buy new music we share the cost of it between us.  We also benefit from the advice of a professional teacher about four times a year and share the cost of the lesson between us, usually £2 each.  Apart from this there is nothing else to pay. To join the group immediately you need to be able to read music and play a descant, treble, tenor or bass recorder.  However if you don’t play but would like to learn we can arrange private lessons with a member (no cost) and then feed you into the main group. We have played for Dicken’s Day and for Care Homes but not frequently so the extra commitment is not too onerous. Not only is music-making fun  - it is also said to help ward off senility!
